VIKTORIYA VITA KORENEVA MEZZO-SOPRANO & COMPOSER
Vita is a mesmerizing mezzo-soprano whose striking stage presence and captivating vocal abilities have garnered her international praise. A native of Moscow, Russia, her extensive musical training includes piano and vocal studies at the Central Music School of Moscow under the auspices of the Tchaikovsky State Conservatory. Vita is currently pursuing her Music Composition for Film, TV and Games at Berklee School of Music, USA.
Described as, “Possess a voice of distinct timbre, which she uses with a wonderful dramatic intensity,” Vita is blessed with an impressive vocal range which she masterfully uses to express both broad dramatic power and lyrical beauty.
Vita has recently performed the title trouser role in Mascagni's opera Zanetto in Washington DC and made a successful role debut as Donna Elvira in W.A. Mozart’s Don Giovanni with the Vocal Productions NYC in the fall of 2016. Vita had also sung the roles of Pythia and Alkmene in the Olympic Flame Greek opera at the Lincoln Center in New York. Other notable highlights include: an alto soloist in Mozart Requiem with the UN Orchestra; a featured soloist in the music summer festival La Fête de la Bretagne in New York; Tebaldo in Verdi's Don Carlo.
In July 2015, Vita was delighted to perform a solo recital in France dedicated to the music of Jules Massenet. Upon returning from her European tour, she won first prize in the 2015 William Haralson Vocal Competition in New York City.
In 2014, she performed the world premiere of the art song, “The Stars,” composed by Pauline Viardot. She was also awarded a distinguished recognition diploma by the Russian Cultural Center in Washington, DC for strengthening Russian-American cultural relations.
From 2011-2013, Vita was the featured mezzo soloist with the Cathedral Choral Society for Rachmaninoff's All-Night Virgil (Solemn Vespers), Taneyev’s cantata John of Damascus, and Gretchaninoff’s Praise the Lord in its Washington premier at the National Cathedral. She further collaborated with the Cathedral Choral Society on the Antonin Dvorak’s Te Deum and Leos Janacek’s Glagolitic Mass.In both 2012 and 2015, Vita was honored to perform for the Cadet Opera Club at the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY.
Vita is a finalist of Verismo NJ Vocal competition; prize winner at the International 2016 Lyra New York Competition, and a First prize recipient in the 2015 William Haralson Vocal Competition in New York. Vita is a 2016 recipient of UNESCO Honorary Award for premiering the Greek opera and a 2014 distinguished recipient of recognition award for strengthening Russian-American cultural relations. In 2009, she was finalist and diploma recipient in the “Romanciada Without Borders” Art Songs Competition in Russia.
Her past roles include: Pythia, the High Priestess and Alkmene in Olympic Flame, Tebaldo in Don Carlo, Alisa in the opera Lucia di Lammermoor, Giullietta in The Tales of Hoffman, Le Prince Charmant in Cendrillon, Charlotte in Werther, La Zia Principessa in Suor Angelica, and Jezibaba inRusalka. She has flourished under the tutelage of Anastasios Vrenios in Washington, DC and Valentin Peytchinov in New York City.
As a musician with the native fluency in both Russian and English, Vita also coaches singers in Russian pronunciation and diction to expand their repertoire. She worked with Carl Tanner, a renowned American tenor, on his new role of Herman in Tchaikovsky's opera Queen of Spades. In July 2012 the opera was successfully performed in Russian at the Grange Park Opera in England.
